Worther Baden Baden is a German manufacturer and was founded in 1985 by Gerhard Worther with the aim of providing exceptional mechanical pencils, writing instruments and accessories. They are renowned for their range of Worther Shorty pencils which are designed for use by artists who appreciate the pencil’s wide 3.2mm lead. Worther Shorty pencils have a distinctive wide, chunky, hexagonal barrel made from ABS plastic and are available in several colours. There is also a matching Worther Shorty ballpoint pen with the same chunky hexagonal barrel. Also available is the premium version of the pencil made from aluminium and, with typical German efficiency, called the Worther Shorty aluminium pencil. Although renowned for their Shorty pencils, Worther makes some great writing instruments. They are one of the first companies to manufacture pens and pencils from aluminium. The advantages of aluminium are that it is not too light or too heavy and it is easy to look after. It also immediately takes up the temperature of the hand. The Worther Compact range is made from aluminium and is comprised of a 0.5mm pencil, 5.6mm pencil, ballpoint pen, fountain pen and rollerball pen. All have the same distinctive broad, hexagonal-shaped barrel. The Worther Spiral range of pens and pencils are a bit of a hidden gem in that they are beautifully crafted from aluminium with an elegant spiraling barrel shape. At Tiger Pens, we also have a full range of Worther refills in stock including Worther 3.15mm and 5.6mm pencil lead as well as Shorty D1 refills.
