Uni-ball Signo RT UMN-207 Review

Having just picked up a Uniball Signo 207 from my desk, it started me thinking about just how many different brands, types & sizes of pens there are.

Lets face it we all need pens, whether its for taking notes in the office, writing in your diary or something as simple as a shopping list, I personally can't see them going out of fashion any time soon.

It is all well & good using a computer to email your friends & colleagues, but it’s a rare occurrence to attend a meeting & not see people with pens poised ready to scribble a note or two, or on occasion to while away the hours just doodling.  Not a pastime I'd recommend while you are on the career ladder.

The Uniball Signo UMN-207, made by Mitsubishi, has a smokey grey transparent barrel, enabling you to check the ink level, the rubber grip makes it comfortable to hold. It is also refillable.

Something I like about this pen is the retractable nib.  My experience of gel pens is that they can tend to dry out quickly, unless you place the lids on them.  I find it much easier to click a button, making it less likely for this to be a problem when you walk away for any length of time.

One of the main benefits I see with the Signo is the unique super ink, being tamper proof it is great for signing cheques & documents.  Other factors of this ink are the resistance to fading & water, it is also quick drying, acid-free & of archival quality.

Speaking for myself I prefer to write in blue ink, but for those that like variety there are 8 colours to choose from including pink & orange.

In my opinion the Uniball Signo 0.7 is a good general purpose pen.

  • The tip is sturdy
  • It didn't smudge or pool at the tip
  • Wasn't scratchy
  • Is comfortable to write with & the blue ink was a nice colour.
